After a Parent Complains, a Utah School District Bans the Bible

After being challenged by a parent’s complaint, Utah’s Davis School District has banned the Bible in middle and elementary school libraries.

Based on the review conducted by a designated committee of of teachers, parents and admin, the text was found to be too vulgar or violent for young children. The Bible will, however, remain available in high school libraries within the district—which has a current enrollment of just over 72k students.

According to reports, the Book of Mormon also recently received a complaint and will be reviewed as well. Nearly 70% of the people living in Utah are part of the Mormon faith. It will be interesting to see how parents react to the religious script being reviewed.

Do you think the book bans are working as intended?
