MN Pushes to Legalize Adult-Use Marijuana

This Thursday, the MN DFL promised to pass recreational, adult-use marijuana. They intend to accomplish this goal by the end of the session, thanks to their dual-chamber majority.

The bill outlines the legalization of both the sale and use of cannabis for recreational purposes.

More importantly, the legislation, as written, would expunge low-level marijuana-related convictions. This addition mirrors President Biden’s October pledge to pardon simple cannabis federal offenses.

According to the @aclumn, Black people in Minnesota are more likely to be arrested for marijuana, at a rate or nearly 5.5 times.

The civil rights group also points out that MN is ranked 8th amongst states with the largest racial disparities in cannabis arrests.
