Amy Klobuchar Speech Disrupted by Free Palestine Coalition

The Free Palestine Coalition disrupted Senator Amy Klobuchar’s speech during a DFL fundraising dinner in Minnesota!

The DFL’s fundraising dinner featured key speeches by leaders enabling and funding genocide including Senator Amy Klobuchar, Senator Tina Smith, and Governor Tim Walz. Dan Engelhart, a member of @ceasefirechoirtwincities , boldly called out Senator Klobuchar mid-speech to demand she stop funding genocide in Palestine.

Engelhart said, “As part of the Free Palestine Coalition that has been led largely by Muslim and Jewish people, the chance for me to take a stand as someone with Christian lineage was a powerful opportunity I felt I had to take. The DFL and particularly the senior senator need to hear that their members and constituents—the people they say they represent—want them to stop funding this genocide.”

Senator Klobuchar appeared startled by the interruption but refused to acknowledge the public condemnation. There can be NO business as usual as a genocide is taking place with support from our politicians.

Maysoon Wazwaz of @amp_mn , who had spoken earlier to hundreds of protesters gathered outside the DFL event, said, “Our demands for a permanent ceasefire have been ignored by Minnesota Senators for months….Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith have continued to make excuses for Israel, soften their language when criticism arises, and offer no real support to stop U.S. involvement in the genocide in Gaza.”

It is important to note that members of Jewish Voice for Peace and American Muslims for Palestine also purchased tickets for the DFL dinner, but were arbitrarily refunded days later in an apparent act of blatant discrimination.
