Grand Jury Indicts Daniel Penny for the Choking Death of Black Subway Busker Jordan Neely

Yesterday, a Manhattan grand jury indicted Daniel Penny—the man who put Black unhoused subway busker, Jordan Neely, in a fatal chokehold on May 1st.

Penny has been charged with second-degree manslaughter in Neely’s death.

"Daniel Penny's indictment is the right result for the wrong he committed," a statement from Neely's family read.

“The grand jury's decision tells our city and our nation that 'no one is above the law' no matter how much money they raise, no matter what affiliations they claim, and no matter what distorted stories they tell in interviews."

Do you think second-degree manslaughter is justice?
