CEO of UnitedHealthcare Shot Dead in New York

NEW YORK— The CEO of UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, was fatally shot outside the Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, where he was attending a conference.

According to reports, the gunman was waiting for Thompson and shot multiple times, striking him in the chest. 50-year-old Thompson was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

UnitedHealthcare has not released a statement on Thompson’s death but they did cancel their investor day scheduled for today.

NYPD is investigating the targeted shooting and has not yet made an arrest. Thompson worked for UnitedHealthcare for over 20 years and stepped into the role of CEO in 2021. He lived in Maple Grove, Minnesota with his family.
