Former Mpls Police Officer Completes his Federal Sentence for Role in Murder of George Floyd

MINNEAPOLIS— Former Minneapolis police officer Thomas Lane has completed his federal sentence for his role in the 2020 murder of George Floyd.

Lane served a 2.5 year federal prison sentence for depriving Floyd of his civil rights. He will complete the remainder of his state sentence in the Littleton, Colorado facility he served his federal time in.

Lane pled guilty to aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter and is set to be released to supervision this August. His full sentence expires August 2025.
