Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter Dies at 100

Former President Jimmy Carter has died at the age of 100. President Carter was a Democrat from Georgia and was elected in 1976 after beating Republican incumbent Gerald Ford. He served one term as president and lost his reelection bid to Ronald Reagan.

President Carter was an advocate for world peace and human rights. He was also outspoken in support of Palestine (swipe for more). In 2002, Carter won a Nobel Peace Prize for his global human rights efforts.

Carter’s wife, and former First Lady, Rosalynn, passed away last year. He spent the final years of his life in hospice care. Carter was the oldest living former president.
