Jerry W. Blackwell Confirmed as Federal Judge for Minnesota

Jerry W. Blackwell has been confirmed by the Senate as a federal judge for the District of Minnesota.

The lifetime appointment was confirmed by a bipartisan Senate vote on Wednesday.

Blackwell is stepping away from nearly 4 decades in corporate law. He recently worked pro bono to prosecute ex-Minneapolis police officer and convicted murderer Derek Chauvin.

Blackwell, who was born in North Carolina, founded the Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers as well as the Twin Cities Committee on Minority Lawyers in Large Law Firms.
