Two High School Students Prove 2000 Year Old Mathematical Theory
Two New Orleans high school students, Calcea Johnson and Ne'Kiya Jackson believe they have figured out a way to prove Pythagoras' Theorem using trigonometry but without the use of circular logic.
If they are are correct, they’ll be the first people to do so since the theorem was introduced 2,000 years ago—a feat that scientists and mathematicians have tried and failed to accomplish for centuries.
The teens, who are students at St. Mary’s Academy in New Orleans East, recently showcased their findings at the American Mathematical Society's Annual Southeastern Conference.
Congratulations Calcea and Ne'Kiya!
