Jonathan Glazer, During His Oscar Winning Speech, Condemns Atrocities in Gaza

‘The Zone of Interest’ director, Jonathan Glazer, was the only Oscar winner to speak about Palestine in their acceptance speech on Sunday.

Glazer’s film won for Best International Feature. The German-language film is a drama about the horrors of the Holocaust.

During his speech, Glazer stated, “Our film shows where dehumanization leads at its worst … Right now, we stand here as men who refute their Jewishness and the Holocaust being hijacked by an occupation, which has led to conflict for so many innocent people — whether the victims of October the 7th in Israel or the ongoing attack on Gaza — all the victims of this dehumanization … how do we resist?”

Glazer’s words have since been criticized by many, including the Anti-Defamation League and the President of the Holocaust Survivors’ Foundation, as being antisemitic. Glazer is Jewish.
