Kendrick Lamar Set to Perform at the Super Bowl Half Time Show in New Orleans

Much to Drake’s dismay, Kendrick Lamar is set to headline Super Bowl LIX next year.

A press statement released by Roc Nation, Apple Music, and the NFL on Sunday confirmed Lamar will be performing the half time show at the Caesar Superdome in New Orleans on February 9th.

“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one,” said Lamar. The acclaimed performer has won 17 Grammy Awards, 29 BET Awards, and was the first non-classic, non-jazz musician to win a Pulitzer Prize in music.

“Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come,” insisted fellow iconic rapper and Roc Nation owner Jay Z.

Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city catapulted him into fame in 2012, and he kept the hits coming with To Pimp a Butterfly in 2015, DAMN in 2017, and Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers in 2022. Most recently his Drake diss track “Not Like Us” has spent two weeks as the #1 song on Billboard Hot 100.
