Buffalo Grocery Store Mass Shooter Sentenced to Life without Parole

Payton Gendron, the man responsible for killing 10 people in a racially-motivated mass shooting last year, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

On May 14, 2022, Gendron drove several hours to a grocery store in a predominantly Black neighborhood before opening fire.

During the sentencing, Gendron cried and blamed the internet for influencing him stating, “I can't believe I actually did it. I believed what I read online and acted out of hate.”

Judge Susan Eagan was unmoved and spoke directly to Gendron while handing down his multiple life sentences insisting, "There is no place for you or your ignorant, hateful and evil ideologies in a civilized society.”

Judge Eagan continued, “There can be no mercy for you, no understanding, no second chances. The damage you have caused is too great, and the people you have hurt are too valuable to this community. You will never see the light of day as a free man ever again."
