Longtime City Councilwoman Lisa Goodman Will Not Seek Re-Election
Minneapolis City Councilwoman Lisa Goodman has announced she will not be seeking re-election this year.
Goodman was first elected to the Minneapolis City Council in 1997. She represents the 7th Ward, which includes a large portion of downtown, Bryn Mawr, Uptown’s northern limits, and the suburb-adjacent areas near St. Louis Park and Golden Valley.
Goodman notably voted against defunding the Minneapolis Police Department in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. She also voted against a 2015 study regarding raising the minimum wage.
Goodman has often been considered one of Mayor Jacob Frey’s strongest backers on the council.
Goodman is the former executive director of Minnesota NARAL and was the late Senator, Paul Wellstone’s, director of fundraising when he successfully ran for Senate.
Who do you think should run for her city council seat this year?
