Lizzo Reacts to Learning Snowplow Will Be Named in Her Honor

Well, it’s about damn time…

Every year the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) holds a contest to name its new snowplows. This year one of the eight winning names of the Name a Snowplow contest was Blizzo, a reference to Minnesota-native Lizzo.

In an emotional, and lighthearted, video tweet Lizzo exclaimed, “Of all the awards I have received, this is by far the highest honor.”

She continued, “To know that there is a snowplow with the name 'Blizzo' that is clearing the streets of the Twin Cities right now makes my heart melt - or freeze."

Blizzo was the second highest ranked name, coming in at 14,935 votes. The name with the most votes was Yer a Blizzard, Harry, which earned 15,248 votes.

The Grammy Award-winning superstar also gave a shoutout to Osseo Middle School for the nomination.
