Miss Minnesota Rachel Evangelisto is the first Indigenous Woman to Represent MN in Miss America

When Rachel Evangelisto was crowned @missamericamn over the summer, she became the first Indigenous woman to hold the title.

Earlier this week Rachel, who is Lakota and an enrolled member of the Standing Rock Nation, became the first Indigenous woman to represent Minnesota in the Miss America competition.

According to her website, Rachel was recently accepted into the Juris Doctorate program in Native American Law through the Native American Law & Sovereignty Institute at Mitchell Hamline School of Law. She is a Native Justice Fellow.

Rachel is an advocate for Indigenous causes and hopes to continue her work raising awareness and celebrating her culture.

Congratulations Rachel!
