Sources say Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to resign soon as Liberal Party Leader. According to reports from the Globe and Mail, three anonymous sources insist Trudeau could announce his resignation as early as Monday.

There is still much unknown about Trudeau’s decision, such as whether he’ll wait for a replacement to take office before departing. One source stated Trudeau has had a conversation with Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc about LeBlanc taking over as interim leader and prime minister.

Trudeau, who has been the leader of the Liberal Party since 2013, is now polling particularly poorly and his caucus has repeatedly called on him to resign. Canadian lawmakers have been vocal about needing a leader who can keep the country unified while Trump is in office in neighboring United States.
