One of the Former Memphis Police Officers Involved in Tyre Nichols Death, Took and Texted Photos After Beating Him

Demetrius Haley, one of the former Memphis police officers involved in the beating death of Tyre Nichols, took and texted photos of Nichols’ bloodied body.

After the encounter, while Nichols was handcuffed, Haley stood over him and snapped two pictures on his cell phone.

According to MPD documents submitted to a Memphis state board, “On your personal cell phone, you took two photographs while standing in front of the obviously injured subject after he was handcuffed. In your Garrity statement, you admitted you shared the photo in a text message with five (5) people; one civilian employee, two MPD officers, and one female acquaintance.”

Haley was arrested for his role in Nichols’ death and has been charged with second-degree murder, among other charges.
