Israel Says They’re Stopping All Goods and Supplies into Gaza
In a move that has already been harshly criticized by the United Nations, humanitarian aid providers, and several other countries, Israel has cut off the entry of all food and goods into Gaza.
Israel announced their decision to cut off food and goods earlier today. The move is part of a larger strategy to force Hamas into agreeing to extend the first phase of the ceasefire agreement, which ended Sunday morning. Israeli leaders are pushing to extend the first phase through the Jewish holiday of Passover, instead of progressing to the second phase as planned.
Hunger and starvation have been ongoing concerns for Palestinians since Israel’s war on Gaza began. Earlier during the conflict, Israel employed similar controversial tactics. Negotiations around the second phase were meant to begin a month ago and have not.
Meanwhile, Ramadan began on Friday and the people of Gaza are going into another holy month unsure of what the future holds.
