Palestinian American Physician Explains Why He Walked Out on Biden’s Iftar Dinner

Palestinian American emergency physician, Dr. Thaer Ahmad, explains why he walked out of a meeting with President Biden and refused iftar dinner to break Ramadan fast.

Dr. Ahmad traveled to Gaza with a cohort of doctors from the NGO MedGlobal.

“I said it was disappointing I’m the only Palestinian here, and out of respect for my community, I’m going to leave,” Dr. Ahmad stated.

Before he left the meeting, Dr. Ahmad gave President Biden a letter written by an eight year old child named Hadeel, who had been orphaned during the violent attacks and is now living in Rafah. In the letter, Hadeel begged the president to stop the Israeli military from entering Rafah.
