Drivers Licenses for All Bill Passes in MN House

Last week the Minnesota House passed the Driver’s Licenses for All bill, which makes it so applicants no longer need to show proof of legal residence to receive a license, in a 69-60 vote.

Versions of the bill, which was sponsored by Representatives Aisha Gomez (DFL-Mpls) and María Isa Pérez-Vega (DFL-St. Paul), have been pushed around in Legistlature for over 10 years without being successfully passed.

With Democrats in control at the House and Senate levels, and a Democratic Governor, proponents believe the bill may actually become a law this time around.

@pewresearch estimates there are 95,000 info undocumented individuals in Minnesota.
