Mayor Frey Eviction March

Minneapolis, MN

Filmed by Max Sjoberg

Action Description:

Jacob Frey, the mayor of Minneapolis, campaigned on the promise to create affordable housing and end homelessness within 5 years. It has now been 3 years since he's been elected as mayor of Minneapolis, and the unhoused population is at an all-time high for Minneapolis.

As unsheltered folks have been brutalized and predated upon by Minneapolis Police, encampments under the city's constant threat of terror to evict them at a moment's notice, and promises changing day-to-day on what the county plans to do to address a looming, deadly winter that will claim unhoused lives if tax-paid elected officials don't come up with something soon... the action is now being taken to those fell through on their promises.

Nov. 1st was to be the day that all folks staying in the Extended Stay hotel were to be evicted. Fortunately, the eviction has been postponed.

Unfortunately for Jacob, we've seen enough. We are marching to demand that Jacob Frey be evicted from Minneapolis.

SHORT TERM DEMANDS

- County provides more hotel rooms for the winter.

- Hotels housing folks who are sleeping outside, will be run like dignified housing.

LONG TERM DEMANDS
