Three Years After Being Paralyzed By Kenosha Police, Jacob Blake Files New Federal Lawsuit

In 2020, Jacob Blake was shot in the back 7 times by a police officer in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He was left partially paralyzed and in constant pain. Last week, Blake has filed a new federal lawsuit against the City of Kenosha, the officers involved, and the since-retired police chief. The lawsuit alleges Blake’s fourth and 14th amendments were violated and names former Police Chief Daniel Miskinis, along with officer Rusten Sheskey—who shot Blake—and officers Brittany Meronek, Vincent Arenas, and "John Doe" officers. After the shooting, the Kenosha County District Attorney declined to file charges against Sheskey, which caused outrage and sparked nationwide protests. Blake recently dropped a previously filed lawsuit and is now requesting a jury trial. He is suing the parties involved for pain and loss.
