Breonna Taylor’s Boyfriend Settles with the City of Louisville for $2 Million

Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker III, has settled with the city of Louisville for $2 million. The settlement resolves lawsuits Walker filed after Taylor was fatally shot by Louisville police in 2020.

In March of 2020 Louisville Metro Police broke into Taylor’s home executing a search warrant, which ultimately led to her murder.

Walker, not knowing the intruders were police, fired his legally-owned gun, shooting an officer in the leg. He was arrested and charged with the attempted murder of a police officer and first degree assault. The charges were eventually dropped.

The city also paid a $12 million wrongful death settlement to Taylor’s family after her murder.

“While this tragedy will haunt Kenny for the rest of his life, he is pleased that this chapter of his life is completed. He will live with the effects of being put in harm's way due to a falsified warrant, to being a victim of a hailstorm of gunfire and to suffering the unimaginable and horrific death of Breonna Taylor," Walker’s attorney Steve Romines said in a statement.
