Prime Minister of Spain to Propose Recognizing a Palestinian State

BILBAO— Spain’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, has announced that he will propose the Parliament of Spain recognizes a Palestinian state.

“I will propose granting Spain’s recognition to the Palestinian state,” Sánchez promised. “I do this out of moral conviction, for a just cause and because it is the only way that the two states, Israel and Palestine, can live together in peace.”

Sánchez joins a growing number of European leaders to support the recognition of a Palestinian state, including French President Emmanuel Macron and British Foreign Minister David Cameron.
