Life of Pi Becomes First Broadway Production with a South Asian Lead to Win a Tony

Congratulations to the @lifeofpibway for its three Tony wins! The production won for Best Scenic Design, Best Lighting Design, and Best Sound Design at yesterday’s @thetonyawards. It was also nominated for Best Costume Design and Best Direction.

Life of Pi, which stars Hiran Abeysekera @hiranzabz as Pi, becomes the first Broadway show with a South Asian lead to win at the Tony’s.

Abeysekera is a Sri-Lankan born actor who previously won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Pi.
