Emmett Till Accuser Dead at 88 Years Old

Emmett Till’s accuser, Carolyn Bryant Donham, has died of cancer at the age of 88.

In August of 1955, Donham accused 14 year old Till of whistling at her in a Mississippi store.

In response, Donham’s then-husband and his brother kidnapped, beat, and lynched Till. Both men were acquitted following a murder trial.

Following an FBI investigation, a Mississippi grand jury decided against indicting Donham in 2007. Last year, another grand jury voted, again, against indicting her.

Donham died at 88 years old, without justice being served.
